So, my boyfriend and I have been together for almost a year. He hasn’t told me he loves me back… not even once! When I tell him I love him, he tells me, “Thank you.” I’m confused, what does he mean? Does he love me?

Dear Confused,

Saying I love you is a very big step.  Many people say it too early in a relationship and it tends to lose it’s significance.

I suggest you talk to him about how you feel and ask him, (sensitively) where he feels the relationship is going.  Ask yourself where you see things heading.  You are in this relationship too, not everything needs to be left up to him!

If you feel he does show “love”, and affection to you, and this is the only problem in your relationship; you might want to just take a step back and let him come around.  But, if this is just one of many problems you are having with him, and he doesn’t really seem invested in the relationship equally; you might consider moving on.
